Manny Machado is done for the season:
Machado had a similar injury to the other knee last year, when he missed the final week of the season. He then had surgery and didn’t play in a regular-season game this year until May 1.
It’s a difficult blow for the AL East-leading Orioles, who are going for their first division title since 1997. They had an eight-game lead over the New York Yankees heading into Saturday’s action.
The good news is the Orioles have that big lead. Machado was coming on strong in the second half. Baltimore actually have a better record without him than with him, however.
The Orioles did not go on the run that let them take a big lead until Machado started hitting. While they may have a big enough lead to hold on the division, barring a collapse, his loss really hurts their post season chances
