Unusual Win

The Yankees defeat the White Sox 3-2, beating the Sox at their own game. One-run, low scoring games are the domain of the White Sox this season, but Mussina, Sturtze, Gordon and Rivera made the three runs the Yankees scored stand up today. The three relievers were on tonight, combining to throw 23 pitches in three innings, 19 for strikes.

    heh…
The Yankees had 4 hits and 3 walks. The White Sox had 9 hits and no walks.
So, the White Sox had 9 base runners and scored ONLY 2 runs. That’s horrid offense. They really need a slugger before October.

    Chicago also had 8 LOB.
(noting that the Yankees had 10, so I guess their offense wasn’t particularly productive tonight either. So maybe I’m just nitpicking the Sox)

Where was F-Rod? He faced one batter on Saturday and a few days before that has not pitched for a few days.

While I agree that there have been instances recently where F-Rod should’ve come in, tonight was not one of them. This is when you bring in your top 3 guys.
