Chad Billingsley needs Tommy John surgery:
Billingsley has struggled with injuries, missing the final month of last season with a partially torn ligament in his throwing elbow. He received platelet-rich plasma injections and underwent rehabilitation, and experienced no pain during spring training. He began the 2013 season on the disabled list with a bruised finger, then went 1-0 with a 3.00 earned-run average in two starts.
A couple of weeks ago the Dodgers had a surplus of starters and traded away Aaron Harang. They’ve gone to Ted Lilly and Stephen Fife to fill in. They could do worse.
