Johnny Cueto continues his quest for a Cy Young award and the Reds try to keep up their pursuit of the best record in the National League as they host the Phillies. Joey Votto will not return on Monday. Cueto goes for his 18th win. He’s 9-1 at home with a 2.26 ERA. He’s walked just 13 at GAB in 75 2/3 innings.
The Rays take a shot at catching the Yankees as the teams open a three-game series in Tampa Bay. CC Sabathia faces James Shields. Milliliter has walked five and struck out 29 Rays this season in three starts covering 21 innings. Shields comes off an outstanding August in which he turned his season around, posting a 2.52 ERA. He did allowed five home runs in 35 2/3 innings, however, during August.
Finally, the Angels send C.J. Wilson against Tommy Milone as LAnaheim tries to gain on the wild card leader. Wilson feel apart in the second half, with one win in ten starts due to a 6.56 ERA. After giving up 80 hits in 111 1/3 innings before the beak, he’s allowed 73 in 59 innings since, despite maintaining a high K rate. Milone is extremely stingy with walks, having issued just 31 in 159 1/3 innings this season. His weakness is home runs, as he allowed 20 so far this season. Despite the low walk rate, nine of his 20 homers came with men on. An Oakland win gives them a ten game streak.
Enjoy!
