Roy Halladay uses just 93 pitches to earn his seventh complete game of the season and his second against the Braves. Both Roy and Atlanta starter Derek Lowe allowed a home run, but Chipper Jones his a solo shot in the first inning, while Greg Dobbs hit his with a man on as the Phillies win 3-1 to cut a game from Atlanta’s lead.
The Braves were swinging early, trying to hit Halladay’s first pitch strikes. That helped him keep his pitch count down, as did his one walk against seven strikeouts. Roy has now started 18 games and pitched 139 innings, 86% of innings he would pitching in 18 nine-inning complete games. Only Cliff Lee, with 103 2/3 innings out of 177 possible innings owns a higher percentage at 88.6%, among pitchers with 10 starts.

Wow, it’s amazing that the Phils have two pitchers with that kind of durability in their rotation … oh, wait …
