Ted Lilly retires the White Sox in order in the sixth, getting a fly and two ground outs. Andruw Jones hit a shot down the third base line that Chad Tracy fielded nicely for the second out. Gavin Floyd comes out for the bottom of the sixth, trying to keep the double no-no going.
Update: Floyd strikes out two as he matches Lilly’s 1-2-3 inning. Each pitcher has nine outs to go for a no-hitter.

At 36 outs, we’re down to just four longer double no-hit bids in baseball history:
37 outs, Brown-Van Landingham, June 10, 1997
40 outs, Trout-May, July 13, 1980 (I was at this one!)
41 outs, Koufax-Hendley, July 9, 1965
55 outs, Toney-Vaughn, May 2, 1917
40 outs! Now I’ve seen two of them!
