Players A to Z, Luke Gregerson

Luke Gregerson pitches in relief for the San Diego Padres. He pitched as a true rookie in 2009, posting an excellent strikeout rate while giving up just three home runs in 75 innings pitched. His walk rate came in a little high, but given his excellence in the other two legs of the pitching tripod, his walks were perfectly acceptable.

Gregerson did show some situational weaknesses that other teams might try to exploit. Left-handed batters hit him for a much higher average than right-handed batters, and all three home runs off him were against lefties. He also performs poorly away from PETCO Park. Again, all three homers were allowed on the road, where he posted a 6.48 ERA, versus a 0.65 ERA at home. If he comes into a game on the road, get your lefties up to bat!
