I guess Ryan Howard’s arbitration hearing will end in a true result:
Tal Smith, who prepared and presented the case for the Phillies, said the hearing was not contentious. “It doesn’t need to be [contentious],” Smith said.
Howard wasn’t so sure. “I don’t know about that,” Howard said. “We’ll see tomorrow. I’m always upbeat, you’d think I’d be anything different? Regardless, we went in, we had a process and we find out tomorrow how it goes. But either way, it is what it is.”

WHAT A TRUE CLASS PROFESSIONAL MAN, FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE THINKING BONDS, OWENS, IVERSON, PDIDDY, ANY RAPPER OUT THERE, BRYANT, CRISP ARE TRUE ROLE MODELS OR GOOD REPS FOR THEIR RACE, ORGET ABOUT IT THAT IS THE PROBLEM PEOPLE NEED TO BEGIN TO TEACH THEIR CHILDREN TO HONOR AND RESPECT A MAN LIKE RYAN HOWARD—WAKE IT UP AMERICA
Only an idiot or a loser would search the sports world for role models.
I don’t get why the players are even allowed to attend these things. They’ve made their bid already, and the agent should do all the talking; the player should be in Florida or Arizona working out.
I guess they could just do the hearings in January so it wouldn’t be an issue…
I think the whole arbitration process doesn’t do anyone any real favors. Management should do everything in their power to get it done before it comes to using that process. There are many MLB teams who absolutely avoid arbitration, and I believe it helps player/management relationships going forward.
Still can’t believe the Phils let it get this far.
The player should certainly be entitled to attend and participate. If it were me, I’d like to see how my agent performs. Might affect whether we continued to have a relationship going forward.
