Much snarkiness in Boston over Manny’s withdrawal. Any other player would get the benefit of the doubt. Manny played in all five games of a long weekend series; maybe his hamstring actually did tighten up.
I realize he’s occasionally done something flaky or irresponsible, but this year he’s been remarkably durable and consistently productive. He’s done so without a good #5 hitter behind him. There are many things wrong with the Red Sox right now, but Manny is not one of them.
