The first game of the day offers one of the best pitching matchups as Freddy Peralta of the Brewers faces Merrill Kelly of the Rangers. Peralta goes for his seventeen win of the season while he pushes for a career high in innings pitched and a career low in ERA. Kelly owns a 2.98 ERA in seven starts for the Rangers, walking just nine batters in 42 1/3 innings for the team.
The Phillies magic number is nine to win the NL East as they go for a sweep of the Mets at home. Clay Holmes takes on Cristopher Sanchez. Holmes does a good job of removing base runners, with 19 taken off with double plays and caught stealing. Sanchez stands 2-4 with a 4.63 career against the Mets, including an 0-2 this year. He tends to walk a lot of batters when he faces New York.
Finally, the Reds and Padres offer the best matchup on the west coast as Andrew Abbott takes on Nick Pivetta. Abbott’s low ERA comes as a result of opponents doing poorly with runners in scoring position this year, hitting .204/.280/.301. Pivetta’s 2025 ERA stands over 1.6 runs lower than his career average. Both his walk and home run rates are way down this season.
Enjoy!
