The Athletics came into the game with Washington having allowed at least 10 runs 20 times this season. That’s tied with the Rockies for the most time allowing at least 10 runs. The A’s turned the tables, however, beating the Nationals 16-7. It was the 15th time this year the Nationals allowed at least ten runs, third in the majors.
The top four batters in the Athletics order went 16 for 22 with two walks, four doubles, and four home runs. Shea Langeliers, batting leadoff for the first time, hit three of the home runs.
It was quite the night for the catcher.
