Best Batter Today

Michael Harris II of the Braves posted the best game score of the day, an 89 in a 6-5 Rangers win. He missed the cycle by a single with an unusual four for four, hitting a double, home run, and two triples. It was only the seventh time since 1920 that someone missed the cycle with that combination of hits. Only Hoot Evers put together that combination with a single for the cycle, the feat happening on 9/7/1950. That game saw Evers’ Tigers tie the Indians 13-13, a Munster’s tie. The last person to accomplish that combination was Kyle Seager.

His brother, Corey Seager, of the Rangers, went 1 for 3 with two walks to maintain the top slot in the rankings. Harris’ teammate, Matt Olson went one for four with a walk and ranks third.

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians went three for nine with a walk and a double in the double header split with Kansas City. With the Tigers losing, Cleveland moves to seven games back in the AL Central. Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies went two for five with a walk to cement his position at number four in a 9-4 win over the Yankees.

Cal Raleigh of the Mariners remained fifth after a two for five, including his 40th home run of the season.
