There are a number of horrid pitching matchups today, and I would not be surprised if Sunday wound up being one the higher scoring days of the season. One good duet comes in a must-win game for the Mariners as they send rookie Bryan Woo against the Rangers and Nathan Eovaldi. Woo did a good job of limiting walks, home runs, and hits in his 80 2/3 innings of work, but gave up fourteen of his 23 extra-base hits with runners on base to account for his 3.90 ERA. Eovaldi owns a 6.75 ERA since returning from the illjured list, giving up fifteen hits and nine walks in 12 innings.
The Mets visit Philadelphia, with the Phillies able to clinch a wild-card berth with victory and a Marlins loss. (Miami holds the tie-breaker between the clubs.) Jose Butto takes on Cristopher Sanchez. Butto allowed just one home run in his 32 innings, more than making up for the nineteen walks he allowed. Sanchez allowed just fifteen walks in his 91 1/3 innings, more than making up for the fifteen home run he allowed.
Enjoy!
