Matt Carpenter of the Yankees continued his home run barrage Saturday afternoon, hitting two more in the 13-4 rout of Cleveland. Carpenter now owns twelve hits on the season after going three for five in the game, eight of those hits home runs. He’s now hitting .293 with a .902 slugging percentage, as he threw in a double as well.
If you’re going to be a part time player, hitting home runs frequently will keep you on a roster. It also makes him a good trade chip if the Yankees feel they need to improve in a another area. Carpenter turned out to be a good investment.
