Games of the Day

The Mets visit the Phillies with New York’s division lead down to 1/2 game. Marcus Stroman faces Kyle Gibson. Stroman makes his fifth start of the season against the Phillies. He stands 2-2 despite a 1.35 ERA. Part of that comes from four unearned runs allowed. Gibson won his first start since coming over from Texas. He walks a ton of batters, but gives up few hits, helping him to a 2.86 ERA overall this season.

The Red Sox make their way to Toronto as Nathan Eovaldi battles Alek Manoah. Toronto tries to gain on both the wild card leaders and an AL East rival. Eovaldi keeps his walks and home runs allowed low, but gives up quite a few hits for a pitcher with a high strikeout rate. Manoah is off to a great start to his career with a 2.47 ERA in 47 1/3 innings. He struck out 56 and walked just 16, but is susceptible to the home run.

A battle of first place teams takes place in Milwaukee where the Giants send Logan Webb against Corbin Burnes. Webb is on a roll since the start of July, with a 2.25 ERA in five starts. That only encompasses 24 innings, however. Burnes owns a tremendous K/BB, with 152 K in 106 innings and just 20 walks. He also allowed just 83 hits.
