The Phillies try to stay in pursuit of the Mets as Philadelphia visits Washington. Ranger Suarez takes on Josiah Gray. Suarez makes his first start of the season, having posted a 1.12 ERA in 40 1/3 relief innings. He allowed just 21 hits and 14 walks. Gray makes his debut for the Nationals after coming over in the deal with the Dodgers for Max Scherzer and Trea Turner. In his brief career, Gray struck out thirteen batters in eight innings, but walked five and allowed four home runs. He needs to get one of those two down to be effective.
