The Braves added season age 21 year old, left-handed power hitter, first baseman Bryce Ball to their sixty man player pool. Braves Journal discusses the good and the bad that would need to happen for him to make the team.
I hope Ball plays. If he’s successful at the major league level, his name could become a description of his game. If he continues to hit for power at a prodigious rate, a mistake pitch might become known as serving up a Bryce Ball. Since he is in the same division as Bryce Harper, when Harper singles against the Braves, there would be a brace of Bryces on the bag.
His picture at Baseball Reference has a Ted Cassidy vibe. At six feet six inches, he could become the next great tall scifi actor! The possibilities are endless. Of course, my favorite Ted Cassidy scene was in a western:
It would have been nice to see what Ball could have done at AA this season.
