Cafardo Passes

Boston Globe baseball writer Nick Cafardo died suddenly Thursday, today:

Longtime Boston Globe baseball writer Nick Cafardo has died after collapsing at the Red Sox’s spring training ballpark. He was 62.

The newspaper said Cafardo had an embolism Thursday and Red Sox medical staff was unable to revive him.

My thoughts go out to his family, friends, and readers.

Cafardo was a member of a long line of fine baseball writers at the Globe. For someone like him, spending your last moments on a field is not a bad way to go.

Thats sad. Always enjoyed reading him even when I disagreed, although I dont read him much now since the Globe went behind a paywall. Weeks away from 62 myself.

I dont know about it being a great way /place to go. I travelled a lot doing what I loved but a couple of health scares had me thinking I would rather be with family when I go. At the end of the day I guess it doesnt matter though. RIP Nick. Sympathy for the family, its tougher on them when its so sudden.
