The Pirates beat the Mets 3-1 in game one of their double header thanks to the hitting of the top of the order and and seven shutout inning by Jonathon Niese. Josh Harrison, Andrew McCutchen, David Freese, and Jung Ho Kang each had at least two hits, combining to go 9 for 16 with a walk, a double, and a triple. All four are doing a great job of getting on base this year, which gives the rest of the lineup plenty of RBI opportunities.
