Games of the Day

The Twins visit the Blue Jays on Civic Day in Canada for a Monday afternoon game with wild card implications. Ervin Santana takes on David Price. Santana owns a 3.78 ERA despite allowing six home runs in 33 1/3 innings. Price makes his Blue Jays debut after posting a 2.53 ERA with the Tigers. Price has a shot at winning a Cy Young whle pitching for two teams in the same year.

The Cubs are chasing the Pirates for the top wild card slot in the NL as Jon Lester takes on Francisco Liriano. Lester pitched well for the Cubs but hasn’t won much, toting a 6-8 record. His three true outcomes are very good, and his situational stats are good. Ten of his 11 home runs were solo shots. He’s pitching better than his ERA. Liriano is allowing fewer hits with his high strikeout rate, which is the difference between his sub-three ERA and Lester’s plus three.

Enjoy!
