A Pot of Tea
Taylor Teagarden knocked out two more hits Monday night, including a grand slam home run for five RBI. That gives him 17 RBI in just 12 big league games. It's not difficult to see why. Ten of his 13 hits went for extra bases, including six home runs.
With Teagarden at catcher, Michael Young and Ian Kinsler in the middle infield and Josh Hamilton in center, the Rangers are looking very strong up the middle for 2009. All they need to do then, is put competent hitters at the corners to have a great offense. The trick for Texas, as always, is finding a pitching staff that can hold the opposition to four runs.

And/or a defense that isn't the worst in the league.
Dead on - Hamilton is good in CF - I haven't seen much of Teagarden but the rest of their defense is embarassingly bad.
Actually Hamilton is not that good in CF, though, as in the case of Kinsler, his offense mitigates his fielding there. Sometime soon Hamilton will move to RF, maybe as early as next spring, and Young may move to 3B when Elvis Andrus is ready.
As for competent hitters at the corners, Dave, have you forgotten about Chris Davis? If he had as many plate appearances as Evan Longoria there might be quite a debate about rookie of the year going on. They have similar rate stats, and Washington inexplicably hitting Davis 9th has reduced his RBI opportunities.
