I don't understand this comment at all. Matsuzaka's 6th in the AL in VORP. Among all Major League pitchers with 20+ starts, his 2.93 ERA is 7th best. His K/9 is 17th best, and his HR/9 is 12th best. He still walks too many and throws too many pitches, preventing him from pitching as many innings as you'd like to see. That said, he's allowed more than three runs only five times in 27 starts this year. He's clearly a top 20 Major League starter, and equally clearly one of the top 10 in the AL.
