Zambrano Through Eight
Carlos Zambrano downs the Astros 1-2-3 in the eighth, picking up another strikeout. That gives him 9 strikeouts and 99 pitches.
I don't think Astros fans are going to be happy about this at all.
Update: ESPN will be going live to the game in the bottom of the ninth.
Update: One pitch, one out in the ninth.
Update: Carlos induces a grounder to short for the second out. It's up to Erstad.
Update: Zambrano strikes out Erstad on a 3-2 pitch to record the first complete game no-hitter for the Cubs since Milt Pappas in 1972.
The stadium looked sold out, and every one appeared to be wearing Cubbie Blue. Zambrano throws 110 pitches, 73 for strikes and faces just one batter over the minimum as a double play takes out one of the two batters he allowed to reach base. Congratulations to Carlos Zambrano on a fine game and a great feat. Looks like he really needed the time off.
A bad weekend for Houston just gets worse. They got blown away by both an Ike and a Carlos. There are going to be lots of complaints by Astros fans about the location of this game. The Cubs win 5-0.

The stadium wasn't sold out. They didn't even sell tickets for the upper decks.
yeah I think it was somewhere around 23 thousand maybe? So yeah, no seel out, just 98% cub fans.
There were poeple in the top deck, though the luxury boxes looked like they weren't sold. Not enough concession staff, I guess.
