Close to a Cycle

The Washington Nationals are a single away from a cycle in the first inning off Carlos Zambrano. They started the innings with a triple, then picked up a walk, double and home run. The Nationals lead 4-0, and Jacque Jones just robbed Dmitri Young of a double with a great diving catch. Zambrano extra-base hit allowed total is now 16, nine of those home runs. The league is slugging over .500 against him. For a batter, that's a great slugging percentage. For a pitcher, it's a sign of trouble.

David, I'm curious as to what you think Zambrano's problem might be. Coming into today, %26.1 of his flyballs have gone for homers...which is just absurd, but isn't that largely regarded an issue of bad luck?

Further, he's actually inducing more GB's then last season and getting more weak IF flies; the only peripheral stat that I can see that's taken a notable step back this year, besides his HR-rate, is his K-rate.

He was tipping his pitches in the first inning. he remedied this and threw 5 scoreless after the 4-run first.
