Efficient Game

The Giants pounded the Marlins last night 14-2. They only left four on base; if you reach last night, you had a very good chance of scoring. The team went 9 for 14 with runners in scoring position last night. They loaded the bases five times and banged out four hits and a double play. If there was a scoring opportunity, the Giants seemed to convert it. Even better news, the Giants get Moises Alou back to today.

On the pitching side, Lowry and Hennessey combined to throw 117 pitches, 76 for strikes. Hennessey used just 41 pitches to finish his four innings of relief.

How come no comment on Barry Bonds hitting 716? I am not a Bonds fan, but this political BS about steroids is laughable. The media is so herd oriented it is bogus. For 100 years baseball players have been doing everything thing possible looking for an edge against opponents- most of which were illegal. Selig loved it until the shit hit the fan- what a shmuck. From the spitter and the ball scratching to corked bats and sign stealing via TV camera's it is all cheating. Cheating has been a big part of the history of baseball and players will always be looking to gain an advantage especially as salaries skyrocket. I realize steroids hurts people and stopping kids from using them should be a top priority, but give Bonds a break. He is just doing what everyone else has always done and continue to do. He just so happens to be an arrogant jerk who all the baseball writers have been dieing to take down for 15 years.

Well, I don't comment on every home run. Since he passed Ruth, the next record he's going for is Aaron's NL record, which is 733. With Bonds hitting a home run once a week or longer, he's not reaching that any time soon.

Having stayed up late a number of nights watching him try to pass work, you'll forgive me if I take a couple of weeks off from the Bonds watch.

Huh, I understand your point. What about Neikro hitting in front of Bonds?? He might be a bench player to pick at 1st, any thoughts??
