Thinking About Thinking
I wonder how many other mangers read Malcolm Gladwell?
Maddon never runs out of room for books. He reads books like Devil Rays outfielder Carl Crawford steals bases.
One of his recent favorites: "Blink," by Malcolm Gladwell, a book that examines thinking.
Maddon sounds like the kind of person who'd be interesting to know no matter what his profession.

Gladwell is a lightweight whose books are aimed at a middlebrow audience that wants to feel smarter.
Gladwell is also an engaging writer and storyteller who is good at presenting complicated ideas to a wide audience.
Would you really rather slog through the reams of psychology/neuroscience literature to learn what Gladwell is talking about in "Blink"?
I love Malcolm Gladwell's writing. As David Dean wrote, he is a gifted storyteller who can engage almost anyone, without forgetting to leave the important details in. Instead of watering content down, he prevents it differently. I've read "The Tipping Point" and have "Blink" on order from Amazon (along with "Game of Shadows!")
