Loving the WBC

Omar Vizquel loved playing in the World Baseball Classic and thinks the players who turned down the offer missed a great opportunity:

"I feel sad for the guys that didn't go to this tournament - the guys who had a chance and were invited and didn't go for whatever reason," Vizquel said. "I think they really missed something huge in their careers. Opportunities like this will not come very often. I think the guys who had the opportunity to go really enjoyed it."

I suspect in 2009 they'll be turning players away.

He also said he played 9 innings almost every day. And,
"with the responsibility we had in those games I feel like
I have to lay down a little & play spring training games,
after playing such a high level of games." Which is fine.
Except, this is something different than what was sold.
This event was quite different from a spring training game, as anyone could see, & as Vizquel has now stated. I just don't want the powers that be trying to
bully me or anyone else into seeing this for something
other than what it is.

Perhaps the WBC will help people in the US that the so called World Series is only the "american champioship" and that perhaps , if in the future, we wnat to call our favor team a world champion, That team should face its international counterparts. Much like you do in that sport that AOL does not consider among its major sports; Soccer, wher the USA is number 5 in the "WORLD RANKING" and were they actually face their international oponents. We may call baseball the national pasttime, but it does not mean We are the only ones playing well. The results of the WBC should be used for future monetary considerations for players, it is true, they are very talented, however, they did not show it during the WBC.
