Praise and Criticism
Torii Hunter criticizes his owner, Carl Pohlad through his praise of George Steinbrenner.
"Steinbrenner knows what he's doing," Hunter said. "You can't hate that guy. He spends the money. I don't hate him. We've got other owners who could do the same thing, but they don't want to be like Steinbrenner."

I don't want Pohlad to be like Steinbrenner either, but if he could be more Moreno, then I'd be a happy Twin fan.
I rarely pass up a chance to defend George or rip the small-minded-market owners, but it must be noted that Mr. Pohlad did in fact open up his wallet for the outspoken Mr. Hunter (to the tune of, I think, 4 years at $32M), in a contract that was arguable even at the time and looks like a potential franchise-hampering deal now.
