Terrible News

Bill Kelly just wrote me to spread the news that Doug Pappas has passed away. Doug's Business of Baseball Blog was one of my daily reads. He presented the money side of the game clearly and eloquently. I never got the chance to meet Doug, but from his writing, I know I would have liked him. My sincerest sympathy goes out to Doug's family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

I met him once - he was one of those guys who commanded instant respect. He really exuded a huge sense of knowledge almost before he opened his mouth. Nice guy, too.
The baseball world will miss him truly.

This is devastating to me, and I never met the man. He genuinely busted his ass in service of the truth, necessitated by the lying bums who run baseball. Our world is lessened by this man's passing.

Man, that's horrible. He did great work.
