Pat Thanks Fans

Pat Burrell took out ads in the Philadelphia newspapers thanking fans for their support. Given that he was not always treated kindly by the Philly fanatics, it's a very generous gesture.

Dave - I'm sorry, but Pat was always treated well by the fans here.

In his '03 year when he was terrible (TERRIBLE) he was given standing ovations and curtain calls when he would make great plays on d, drive in runs and hit homers. He hit .209 a .309 obp with that huge contract and was still loved. If anything, the Phillie's fans saved Pat from spriraling down and losing his career.

He lead the World Series parade.

He was treated better than almost any athlete during his time here.

Agree with Tim, Pat was treated well by the fans here even in his many funks. He was a streaky player but always put up great numbers. He gave it his best and thats what we liked about him as fans. Sure we boo'd many times over the years but not at him, at the result. The other thing people forget and is the reason he so endeared Philly fans was that he crushed the Mets the first couple of years--GWRBIs, GWHRs, etc.. Its was just great that he won the WS as a Philly and got to lead the parade!

He will be missed.

Two words for you Ankit:

Armando Benitez!

Hey is it possible Peter Gammons has read a comment and seen something I typed. That would be spectacular. Resume-worthy even.

Mr. Gammons... are you there?
