Dutch Treat
Bernie Williams makes a bad play in the outfield, and the Netherlands drive in the resulting runner for a 1-0 lead in their game against Puerto Rico in the top of the second. A second upset for the Dutch would put them in the next round.
Update: Bernie costs Puerto Rico another run as he gets thrown out at the plate on a two-out single to right in the bottom of the third. He's just too slow. The Dutch still lead 1-0.
Update: The Netherlands loses 3-1. That sets up a DR-Dutch rematch, with the winner going to the next round.

Interesting that there is a Dutch professional league in the Netherlands. I figured that places such as the Netherlands Antilles would have baseball, but not Delft or The Hague.
I'll always remember Bernie as catching the final out in the 2000 WS.
In response to rbj it sounds like Bernie should have left it at that. Cost his team some runs today.
Agreed, at this stage he would not bring back more than 5 bats in a trade.
Aw nerts, the Dutch lost. I suspect they'll lose today as well. That's not surprising. What is surprising is that they have played so well against teams filled with major leaguers.
19 year old kid striking out Ivan Rodriguez? Is Ivan basically washed up at this point, or is that kid this good?
Ivan is washed up, but let's waiting and see if he can't pull money and a roster spot from Omar.
Remember, in the previous game against Panama, Pudge looked like the best player in the world, going 4-for-4 with 2 HRS. Of course, that was against Panama.
DR advances by playing Nederlands twice and Panama? In round robin qualifiers don't you play all the teams?
