Hot Bats in New York

It's a really hot day in the big apple, and the Yankees and Royals bats came to life. The Royals scored ten runs off Andy Pettitte, with leads going back and forth in the game until the Royals scored a run off Rivera in the ninth on a DeJesus home run to take an 11-10 lead. Posada homered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game again.

Jose Guillen drove in seven of the eleven runs, hitting a two run homer in the first and a grand slam in the seventh. Johnny Damon is 5 for 5, but only scored one run because Jeter and Abreu only managed two hits between them on the day.

Update: Damon goes 6 for 6, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth with a single. Betemit walked with two out and Cabrera reached on an infield single to put Wilson in scoring position. Johnny raised his batting average 18 points to .326.

Amazingly, boith Soria AND Rivera blew saves in the 9th. Those two just...don't blow saves. I don't think Rivera got credited with a BS though, because he ends up getting the W.... but he did blow it. The Yanks were 1 run up when he took the mound, and he gave up a run.

Mo came into a tied game. No save to blow there.
