Costly Catch

Longoria hits a line drive to right-center in the fourth . Ellsbury dives and makes the catch, but injures his hand. With Crisp ejected earlier, the Sox have Carter, Drew and Youkilis left to right.

Anyone else thing a Randy Winn trade from the Giants to Red Sox would make sense? Winn is a clutch player, hits around .300 with 15-20 homers, and the Sox could use a quality bat like his. Probably wouldn't take all that much to get from the rebuilding Giants who have Schierholtz in the wings.

Or they could just sign Barry Bonds if they really have a dire need for an outfielder with a bat.

What would the Red Sox do with another outfielder? Between Crisp, Ellsbury, Drew, Ramirez, Carter, Moss, Van Every, Keilty and Thurston I really don't think Winn is a good fit.

Any word on the seriousness of the injury?

I think Boston's all set without Randy Winn
