Power and Speed

The Cubs keep on winning, ignoring the history of PETCO Park to score nine runs and defeat the Padres by three. The Cubs pulled out all their offensive weapons Tuesday night. They reached base eleven times by a hit and six times by a walk. They hit three home runs, only the 27th time in PETCO park history that an opposing team hit three or more home runs in a game. On top of that, they ran wild, stealing six bases, only getting caught once. Soriano accomplished all four, hit, walk, homer and steal. The Cubs winning streak goes to nine, and they've scored 44 runs in their last six games.

The Cubs have the best offense in the game right now, and overpowering Petco is no mean feat. I think the hitters will coast back to earth eventually, but the team still looks tough to beat in the NL Central.
