Bottoms Up

After forcing Joba Chamberlain out of the game early with a high pitch count, the Blue Jays proceeded to demolish the back of the Yankees bullpen. To add insult to injury, most of the damage was done by the bottom third of the Blue Jays order. Barajas, Wilkerson and Eckstein combined to go seven for thirteen, driving in five of the Jays nine runs. Barajas is actually hitting very well this season, with a BA over .300 and a slugging percentage over .500. I guess he's batting seventh because the Blue Jays don't believe those stats are for real.

The Jays take the game 9-3 and are just four games behind the Rays in the AL East.

Correction: Fixed a typo.

I'd love to believe that the Jays have become so good that they are now both first and third in the division (with luck, we can play ourselves in the division series!) but I suspect you intended there to be an extra R in that sentence. :)

Jobba's own words, last week: "I have zero question marks."

Indeed.
