Hughes at Home
From the LoHud Yankees blog:
I sent an e-mail to Phil Hughes asking him how he was dealing with the trade talk. Here is what he wrote back:
It's been tough trying to follow any of this the past week. One minute it's a for sure thing, the next it's not. I want to stay in NY and its good to know I have the backing of the fan base.
It looks like Phil gets his wish.
Meanwhile, it appears Hank Steinbrenner and the New York Yankees have had enough of the Santana sweepstakes. The Yankees ended their pursuit of Santana on Tuesday, leaving Boston as the favorite to land the two-time AL Cy Young Award winner.
"A deadline is a deadline. It was pretty much done as of this morning," Steinbrenner said. "He's a fine pitcher, but there's a lot of things that go into this. This isn't fantasy baseball."

I think this is a good thing...if it "probably" stays as it is...Hughes is going to be better then Santana one day, it may not be for a few years but that kid has potential...But Hughes shouldn't get too comfortable yet...Teams are going to want him in a trade, especially the A's if they go for Haren....
Melky, well his bat could be better, which I think it eventually will be....But either way the yanks need that arm and speed in center...no way can you put Damon back in there so two cut-offs are needed to get home....also the Melky/Cano fire is needed, it shows two guys that are truly teammates and bring excitement to the team...
Boston getting Santana.......well, they might as well print up their world series tickets as soon as the deal is final....that's some top notch rotation...
Hughes is going to be better then Santana one day,
After Santana passess away maybe
