Thar's Gold in them thar Gloves!
Rawlings presented the 2007 Gold Glove winners today. Maddux set a record with his 17th. David Wright won at third base, which I think would make it difficult for the Mets to move him to first if they sign A-Rod. Four outfielders won the NL award as there was a tie in the voting.

But Wright would be a great candidate to move to first. His main defensive weakness is his arm, which becomes less of an issue at second. And the Mets have a need for a second baseman. Hmmm...
Gold Gloves = Joke
I'll take the Fielding Bible awards any day.
Who votes on these things? It's obviously people who don't watch any games but shouldn't they at least get somewhat competent people to vote. The NL Awards are a complete joke (Maddux, Martin, Lee, Rollins over a pitcher that can hold on runners, Molina, Pujols and Tulowitzki) and the AL OF (Granderson is head and shoulders ahead of Hunter and Sizemore) is pretty silly too.
Tom is incorrect. The pitching award is for fielding prowess, just as it is for all the positions. Maddux is and always has been a vacuum cleaner with surprising range off the mound.
Wright and Beltre are both erratic at best, Francouer is nothing special - props on Orlando Cabrera though
Well, it could have been worse.
At least they didn't give AL SS to Jeter again.
If Wright were really a GG 3B there would've been at least four throws in September that wouldn't have been wild and the Mets would've made the postseason. And as far as 2B, no way should a player of his offensive importance be thrown into learning the pivot on the job.
Atkins is head and shoulders over Wright at 3B
