Feature or Bug?

Barry Bonds says he'll boycott the Hall of Fame if his ball goes in with an asterisk. It's possible their evil plan is working!

I'm in agreement with Bonds on this one. The Hall of Fame should not accept the ball with an asterisk.

Not this again. I also seriously doubt many tears will be shed if Bonds boycotts the HoF, fair or not.

Seriously, this whole thing about the ball is beyond ridiculous. The man paid for it fair and square, he can do whatever he wants with it, and the HoF would be silly not to accept it.

I look forward to reviewing all the arguments on either side for this 20th time.

Good news, really. First, he has to get voted in. That isn't a certainty, given his cheating.

I'm not surprised to see Baseball Musings agree with Bonds. When have you not agreed with him? Take off the knee-pads, boys.

If the HoF wants the ball, they should accept the asterisk. If Bonds hadn't cheated all those years and put up those unrealistic numbers, he wouldn't have this problem to begin with. If, IF, Bonds is voted in, he needs to continue to deal with it. The asterisk needs to be next to his name, or he needs to be absent.

Ecko is a douchebag, and this is a douchebag stunt. It's silly that the HoF would go along with it. I agree with Bonds.

We can only hope for the best, but I doubt Bonds will keep his promise to boycott the HOF.

Does he really think he's so important that he can bully the Hall of Fame? Good luck Barry! Stick to you guns on this one.

I'm not sure what you think the HoF can do to Bonds, geb. When it comes down to it, they need him more than he needs them.

The vindication of Barry Bonds will come at the hands of those who are bigger idiots than he is. Right now, Ecko is at the front of the line. But there will be others. If the HoF accepts the defaced ball, they will be in line too. Writers who keep Bonds off their HoF ballots will be next. Unless there is an iron-clad smoking gun - which is beginning to appear unlikely, in the end the efforts to keep Bonds out fo the HoF may so cheapen the process that that he will get the last laugh.
