The Return of Iwamura
Akinori Iwamura returned to the Devil Rays tonight. Tampa Bay was 8-10 with Akinori in the lineup, 12-18 since he went down with an injury. But his return brought good luck as he scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, capping a comeback from a 5-2 deficit. The third baseman tripled and scored, then singled in the ninth to put runners at first and second with none out. After a sacrifice and an intentional walk, Dukes singled, driving in Young and Iwamura for the 6-5 Devil Rays victory. That ties Tampa with they Yankees for last place in the AL East. Akinori is now batting .356 with a .493 OBA.
