Walks and Hits
The Red Sox staff issued eight walks tonight, but got away with it by limiting the Yankees to four hits. The Yankees put plenty on, but couldn't manage the big hit to bring across more than one run at once. Two runs scored on force outs that just missed being double plays.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox picked up ten hits off Mike Mussina. After a rough start, Mike ended up going into the seventh, but tired and wound up charged with seven runs. His fast ball wasn't very fast tonight, so now the Yankees have to worry that Mike is slowing down and becoming hittable. His ERA now stands at 6.52. The Red Sox take the game 7-3 and put the Yankees back to 10 1/2 games out of first.
