Urbina Found Guilty
A Venezuelan court sentenced Ugeth Urbina to 14 years in jail:
Urbina, a former pitcher with the Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies, was also found guilty of illegal deprivation of liberty and violating a prohibition against taking justice into his own hands during a dispute over a gun on Oct. 16, 2005, according to a statement from the Attorney General's Office.
Urbina maintains his innocence.

Not that this has anything to do with Urbina's innocence or guilt, but I think it's odd that they don't mention his pitching with the Florida Marlins, who without his helping to stabilize the pen might not have won the World Series in 2003. I'm picking nits of course :-)
That's too bad.

With that nut Chavez in charge of Venezuala, I'm suspicious of every court decision in that country. Of course, that doesn't mean U.U. is innocent.
Clearly, Urbina isn't friendly enough with Chavez.
Gotta love a country that actually bans 'taking justice into one's own hands.'
Frank, UU's family is rich, and was on the wrong side of la revolucion. It's a very legit question to wonder if he got, or could ever get, a fair trial in Chavez's Vzl.
Jimmie Carter has pronounced the trial fair.
