Hall's Haul

The Brewers cleared their arbitration calendar today by signing Bill Hall to a four-year, $24 million dollar contract with an option for a fifth season. Last season was a breakout year for Hall as he nearly doubled his career home run total. If he can keep the power numbers at that level, this will turn out to be a very good deal for the Brewers. Even if they fall back to his below .500 average, they'll still have a player with above average OBA and Slugging for a good price. And they've cleared him from the arbitration schedule for good.

Update: Brew Crew Ball is very happy.

Interesting- he's pretty much doubled his HR's every year that he has played:

2003 5
2004 9
2005 17
2006 35
2007 70???

Great signing for the Brewers.

The Brewers definitely appear to be heading in the right direction. It seems to me that every move they've made this off-season has been a good one. I wouldn't be surprised to see them contending for the 2007 NL Central crown. I don't think the Cubs or Astros spending will do much for them this year.

Of course I'm hoping the Brewers don't turn things around since I'm a Reds fan but still, if not the Reds taking the Central (hilarious thought I know)...I'm all for the Brew Crew.
