I think his case is weak. He makes fun of Keith Law to start off, by completely misinterpreting Law's point. Law would of made the same exact point if Mauer's OBP lead was 52-points higher than Mauer's, thus making it the same as Morneau's lead over Mauer in slugging. OBP is more important and valuable, so the around 50 points advantage in OBP is much more important than an around 50 point advantage in slugging. The two numbers should not be weighed equally. Nice try though Seth.
Olney's blog has a defense of Morneau's selection today. Among the reasons he outlines:
-The Twins themselves liked Morneau for it.
-Morneau's .362 AVG and 92 RBI during the Twins 4-month streak
- Drove in 15% more runs then any other AL 1B
- More RBI with RISP then any player in majors, though only 11th in RISP ab's
- 28 points higher, 11 more RBI then any 5-hitter
- Compared to others from their spots in the batting order...Morneau was the best
There's more; Olney does a pretty good job explaining why Mauer's D and playcalling didn't help him out, and really, why Morneau won. I can't say I'm convinced...but this is the best argument I've read.
FWIW, Ryan at Protrade.com defends his selection in greater detail in the comments of that article

Unless youre defining value is a pretty roundabout way, I don't see how you can defend Morneau's selection in light of what he points out.
