A Home for Barry?

Peter Schumck suggests the Orioles sign Barry Bonds for 2007:

Bonds may need a place to play and the Orioles are one of the few franchises in baseball that would not damage its national reputation by signing the insufferable slugger. In that regard, there's no place to go but up.

Ouch.

Not so fast, we would still like it if we could talk Pat Burrell into going to Bal'more.

Go out and Get Barry now O's. Have you see your attendance records of late. Barry would be a huge draw in Baltimore and you need the fans to start coming back to the 'yards again. Sign him, watch him break Aaron's record and then watch the people come back.

Hmm, what would that say about the franchise? The last draw was Ripken. Next time baseball mulls downsizing it is mercy killing time at camden.

O's just need an owner who's more concerned about his own club than the location of the nearest National League club.
