The Astros called a news conference for this afternoon. It looks like the Clemens signing will be true today.

Why did Clemens wait an extra month to come back? Look at his statistics from the 2005 season:

Clemens through August 12, 2005.

Clemens from August 18th through the end of the regular season.

Clemens can probably go four good months and a bit. That takes him through the rest of the regular season and into the playoffs. If it works out that the Astros can catch, the Cardinals, make it back to the series and win, it will certainly be a fairy tale ending to a tremendous career.
