DL Day

Two stars went on the DL today. Jason Schmidt went down with a sore shoulder. If the Giants can win with both Bonds and Schmidt out, Alou deserves the manager of the year award.

Jeff Bagwell also has a shoulder injury. Bagwell used to go on the DL when he would be hit by pitches on his hand. In fact, if the strike hadn't stopped the 1994 season, Jeff would not have won the MVP. He had just gone on the DL with a break from being hit in his hand. This is his first trip to the DL since 1998.

Thank GOD Bagwell went on the DL. He'll never be productive again, and I would take Mike Lamb at first over Bagwell any day. If only Bagwell would hang it up before his contract was up, and keep his .230-.250 bat out of a lineup that is already struggling. Granted Mike Lamb isn't sparkling these days, but I do believe he is a better hitter, especially in the cluch.

i would guess that baggy would stay on the DL for this year and next if he really can't play again - you talkin bout 37 million dollars there...

lamb is ok at first - just NOT anywhere else.

personally, i would like to try out todd self - was batting .391 in AAA
