Productive Padres

The San Diego Padres entered today leading the majors in on-base average with a .402 mark. Part of that, I'm sure, was starting the season in Coors, but looking up and down the lineup the only regular doing poorly in this stat is Phil Nevin. They're third in the majors in runs scored as well. With that kind of offense, they should be in for a very good year.

Their offense on the road last season was scary, even adjusting for how many of their road games are in the thin air. But Padres Corporate Sponsor Park is a deathtrap for hitters, perhaps more extreme even than Dodger Stadium (in fact, I suspect Arizona only looks like such a hitters' park because the D-bax play so many road games in LA and SD).
