Charting Guzman

The response to the David Eckstein range charts has been overwhelmingly good. I thought I'd also put up charts of Cristian Guzman, since he did very well in the study.

Here's Guzman on ground balls. He fits the prediction almost exactly (click on charts for a large image).

Here's Cristian on fly balls:

He really shines on line drives, however.

Some commentors have pointed out that Eckstein is short for a ball player. I see him listed as 68 inches. Guzman is listed at 72 inches, so that may make a difference. However, I took at look at the relationship of height to PMR on line drives, and didn't find anything indicating that it really mattered.

I think it is interesting that both of these guys do what's expected on grounders, but pops/flies and line drives is where things really differ. Is it that way for everyone David?

These graphs don't account for number of plays, I just realized. So a small advantage in one spot isn't necessarily balanced by a small disadvantage in another spot. Not that these graphs need to show that, though.

These graphs are great, the first defensive measurement that I feel is actually worth a damn. Any chance you could do one on Khalil Greene?

I agree with previous posters that this would make a great book.
