Deja Vu All Over Again

I'm just wondering how many Red Sox fans flashed back to Bill Buckner when the ball went by Ortiz for two runs?

Doesn't help that ESPN then proceeded to show the Buckner tape, as the Red Sox Nation groaned collectively.

My local paper printed the AP story this morning with the headline, "Shades of Buckner." Which only reinforces my feeling that Red Sox FANS are not the ones picking the Buckner scab and keeping that nightmare image alive, but rather, lazy sports writers (yes, that's you, Dan Shaughnessy, among many others) who find it much easier to consult "curse" lore whenever something bad happens to the Sox than to write anything deeper.

Um, probably almost none. The only "fans" who were thinking of that are broadcasters and newspaper headline writers.

Does every cheap home run over the monster make us think of bucky dent? does every wild pitch remind us of stanley? does every player thrown out at home remind giants fans of the end of the marlins series?
