Erstad in the Outfield
Aaron Gleeman breaks down the Angels options in the outfield and concludes that Erstad is not the person to move to first base. I made a similar comment here.

David and Aaron both beat me to the punch, but I still blogged about this situation anyway! ;)
I don't have a blog but count me among the confused here. Erstad is a great defensive player, and a relatively bad hitter at that. First base???
I'm an angel season seat holder.....and your absolutely right. Erstad lacks the power to be a 1st baseman. However, when healthy hes a pretty good hitter. Problem is, in the outfield hes like a lemming.......he'll dive for balls, run into walls until hes hurt. At 1st he might get through a whole year.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him packaged with a pitcher, like Ortiz in a trade.
And remember the angels have a super stud 1st baseman thats maybe 1 year away.......Kotchman.
Doc
Angels' fans are repeating left and right that Erstad's poor offensive performance 3 of the past 4 years is due to getting hurt playing hard on defense.
Yet during that time, his defense has been top notch.
How does he do it? Until last year's hamstring injury, did he only hurt body parts used in hitting but not defense (e.g., his hands? shoulder?)
Or, is he just not a great hitter?
